The Hypnoreflexogenous Method of Childbirth Preparation
This technique is taught in the second session: it is clinically proven to improve birth outcomes of all kinds.
The term "hypnoreflexogenous" (generating new reflexes through hypnosis) was coined and developed in the early sixties by Santiago Roig-Garcia. With this method, the patient is first taught self-hypnosis, and once in hypnosis, is prepared for the forthcoming labour and delivery.
The method consists of talking the woman through a normal labour, and is repeated several times during pregnancy. For this reason, a tape is made of this session so the woman can practice herself.
Repetition of the preparation sessions provides a "conditioned reflex" effect, conducive to normal healthy labour and delivery. |

"The HR method helps the patient feel a sense of predictability through the educational component of the preparation, and in addition, teaches the patient a potent skill for anxiety management (self hypnosis) which increases the individual sense of control and ego strength."
