Hypnosis
“The staff were going to send me home, because I didn’t appear to be contracting, but when I was examined, I was 9.5 cms dilated. My husband is over the moon that he could really help me in labour, by assisting me to reach such deep levels of hypnosis.” Lizzie.
“The Midwife was unimpressed when she arrived at 4.30 am, to be told by my husband that I was asleep in bed, but when I was examined half an hour later we were all shocked to find I was 9 cm dilated”
| “At 6.00 pm I was ready to start pushing, and this is where the hypnosis really helped me to keep focused and keep going.” - “I can honestly say that I really enjoyed the whole labour, and would do anything to go back and re-live it. At no point was I apprehensive.” |

"I found the hypnosis very useful for keeping me calm and focused on dealing with what was happening at any particular time ….” “I found I could use the hypnosis to help reduce the intensity of the contractions and, I think, the pain. The Midwives said that I was smiling and talking through a lot of them. They were also surprised that my cervix had dilated so quickly, and that I wasn't in more discomfort. I think the hypnosis can help a lot of women to manage labour, possibly without pain relief, as I did.”
“During contractions, I just ‘left them’ (the Midwives) for a minute. The Midwives said it was amazing. Fantastic birth – no analgesia – just what I wanted.”
Midwife comments:
“I feel so lucky to have been involved in this labour; to see a woman with a complicated labour, who had the potential to need a lot of pain relief and intervention, cope so well, and then have a very normal delivery was amazing.”
“I hadn’t witnessed hypnosis before – I will definitely be recommending it.” |
